LIHEAP State Fact Sheets Available

Newly updated information about LIHEAP in all states is available on the website of the Campaign for Home Energy Assistance.

The Campaign has compiled FY 2008 State LIHEAP Fact Sheets that include each state’s number of households served by LIHEAP in 2006 versus those eligible, demographics (percent of households served with elderly, disabled or young children); average benefit; the percent served at various income levels, and the energy affordability gap.

The latter is based on the Home Energy Affordability Gap series, which have been released yearly since 2003 by the consulting firm of Fisher, Sheehan and Colton. They provide tables that quantify the gap between "affordable" home energy bills and "actual" home energy bills, in order to estimate the "home energy affordability gap."

The LIHEAP Face Sheets also detail what each state would receive if LIHEAP were funded at its authorized amount, $5.1 billion, versus amounts received since 2005.

The Campaign for Home Energy Assistance is a coalition representing LIHEAP supporters ─ social service agencies, utilities and energy industry trade associations. Based in Washington, D.C., it provides research and education about LIHEAP.
