Minnesota Adds $13.4 Million to LIHEAP

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has made TANF funds available to the state’s energy assistance program. In November, Governor Pawlenty announced the availability of $13.4 million of emergency funding for the state's LIHEAP. Distribution of funds began in December through the state’s existing local service provider network. The funds will serve an additional 26,000 TANF households in Minnesota with heating assistance.

The additional $13.4 million for LIHEAP comes from the federal TANF dollars the state received in September for its outstanding performance in program outcomes (job entry performance, success in the workforce, and increase in participation of low-income working families in food stamps).
