Idaho LIHEAP Gets $3.75 Million

On March 24, Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne signed an appropriations bill that included $3.75 million for low-income energy assistance. The funds will be used to provide a second benefit to households who applied for LIHEAP assistance during the 2005-2006 program year. The additional benefit will be distributed following the close of the season on March 31, 2006.

This is one-time funding but represents the first time the State has provided additional funds for LIHEAP. Approximately 34,000 households will receive benefits.
