LIHEAP Funding Now $3 Billion

President Bush on March 20 signed S. 2320, which provides an additional $1 billion in LIHEAP funding for FY 2006. The bill moved $1 billion that had been included in the Budget Reconciliation Act from FY 2007 to the current fiscal year. Half of the funds will be spent under the block grant formula and the other half will be spent when the President declares an energy emergency. The legislation prevents any of the funds being used for administrative purposes.
