OK Oil and Gas Producers Contribute to Weatherization

On December 7, the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) announced it was contributing $1 million to support the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program, operated by the Department of Commerce. Beginning January 1, the Department, through local community action agencies, will start spending the money to weatherize the homes of the state’s low income.

The OERB is funded voluntarily by Oklahoma oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners through a one-tenth of 1 percent assessment on the sale of oil and natural gas. The OERB’s mission is to restore orphaned and abandoned well sites and to educate Oklahomans about the petroleum industry.
