Workshop Geared to Pacific Northwest Low-Income Consumer Issues

A group of Northwest nonprofits and governmental entities are presenting "Taking the Stand," a training workshop, on May 18 and 19 in Spokane, Washington. The workshop is an introduction to those in the Pacific Northwest representing low-income and public interest consumer energy and telephone interests who want to gain more knowledge and skills in representing low-income consumer issues before regulatory and legislative bodies.

A World Institute for a Sustainable Humanity is partnering with the Citizens Utility Alliance of Washington, the Northwest Energy Coalition, the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (via the state's recent REACH grant) and the Energy Project in presenting the workshop. This is the second time this  workshop has been presented in the Northwest.

Presenters include Bob Wallis, an administrative law judge with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (who was a previous workshop trainer for Taking the Stand); Lisa Brown, State Senator from Washington, a former Chair of the Senate Energy Committee, and Matt Steuerwalt from the Washington State Attorney General's Office of Public Counsel.
